Hi guys,

I've been looking to build my own gaming pc for awhile now and thought it'd be best to pool your collective knowledge and experience before i do since its pretty expensive.

I'm going for performance more than looks obviously.

Anywho, this is what i've come up with

*WATERCOOLED* AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz @ 3.80GHz / Asus Crosshair III Formula AMD 790FX Motherboard / Geil Ultra Series 4GB PC3-17000 2133MHz Bundle
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BU-041-OE - for the motherboard, cooler and ram

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-216-SP x 2 - as GPU's in crossfire

Corsair TX 750W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-750TXUK)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-011-CS - to power it all

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-082-SA - as a hard drive, from the reviews it sounds decently fast for the size

Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-101-AN - to fit it all in

I've already got the monitor and the dvd drive so that takes away some cost.

I'm gonna get it all at the end on november so got about two weeks to go.

so yeah all together with postage thats £929, is it good for the money? or does anyone have any other recommendations/changes/any other comments. any input would be really appreciated

not to sound really dumb but are they pretty much the same then? i only went for the more expensive Sapphire one because ive heard good things about them. also deal wont be on when i get it, cant get it any sooner than the 30th of november because of pay day :(

considering its your first build its absolutely fine...HOWEVER and this may spare you bout £60, go for i5 with pc12800 memory and the Maximus III Gene, reason being it has an overclocking feature that allows you via bios to have the CPU set overclocking sets, for instance itl overclock it to 3Ghz with the voltages set etc if you have a good cooler then you can egt higher, thats where the Noctuar n12 i think its called comes into play, easy 4Ghz stable. everything else is top dosh, however it might be a squeeze in the 300

yeah the 300 is pretty small, prob is £900 odd is really my maximum spend so couldnt see anything bigger for more or less the same money with good air flow. Thanks for the i5 recommendation :D i'll look into it but from what you say its sounds good!

Yeah, as Snfx said I'd recommend that you go with i5.
