Hi All
First time poster here and I have recently built my first rig! Apologies in advance if I come off as a noob.
I've built my computer by basically just watching YouTube videos. Pretty daunting at first, but I've found then if you've ever put a lot of IKEA furniture together, you can build a PC too!
However, I came across a video recently which suggested I should overclock my RAM speed to 3200mhz to improve my PC's performance. I was able to follow along well enough - I was able to access my BIOS and enable the 'XMP' profile which I believe is required to boost the RAM speed.
But - I can't seem to boost the speed past 2666mhz, even with the XMP profile enabled. I'm pretty sure the RAM I bought is capable of doing this (I purchased Corsair Vengeance Pro 16gb (2x8gb) DDR4 3200mhz C16 XMP 2.0).. So am I doing something incorrect on the bios to overclock this?
My motherboard bios is a Gigabyte b460m ds3h - the youtube video I watched where the guy clocked his to 3200 is a b450m, so the bios interface is slightly different, but the gist of the process is pretty much the same, so I'm just wondering what I'm doing wrong?
Grateful for any thoughts/advice!
Cheers
