Hi I have been away from PC gaming and PCs really for about 10 years but since consoles are boring me now decided to get rid and build my first gaming PC. The bit I'm confused with is what I should get I have read a lot of people saying old off till next year and others saying just buy what you can so this is where I am confused I don't really have a budget in mind, what do I do buy one that will do me the now or go all out? Any help would be great thank you :D

The "wait until next year" argument is mainly due to the upcoming Nvidia graphics cards. But you will find a lot of people who say wait until next year never upgrade because when next year comes they know something better will be available next year and wait again....

Build now don't look back enjoy what you get :)

There will always be better tech "Just around the corner" so build now, if you a determined to stick to the curve try and buy futureproof. You say you don't have a budget but you can literally spend anything on a PC so let us know a budget and either myself or another lovely member can whack you together a nice spec :)

Is the PC to be purely for gaming and Internetting?
Will you be photo editing, 3D modelling and other jigger pokery?
Do you want to watercool it with a custom loop?
Try you hand at overclocking?
1 monitor or 2? (or 3?)

Yeah will need everything but have a mouse, 500gb Samsung ssd, 1000w corsair psu and getting the keyboard as part of the Christmas so the monitor isn't really included in that price

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,709.78
(includes shipping: £15.90)

Got about £300 left, if you need a monitor you can use that to grab one, if you don't need a monitor you can maybe grab the 5930k bundle instead.

The cooler is out of stock atm but it'll be back in no time I reckon.

Also if you don't have windows you'll have to source it. I'd recommend finding windows 7 or 8 else where and using the free upgrade to windows 10 instead of paying like £80 for it. :)

I would like to do most of this my plan is to get one monitor the now then get another at some point

Just seen the rest of the stuff you've got. Drop the PSU out the spec then and maybe swap the 1tb SSD for another 500gb if you need the storage. Then defo grab the 5930k bundle if you want to do more than game.

Seeing as you're better of getting the 5930k and want to do more than game I'd also recommend get a quad channel kit of RAM 32gb would be excessive really so get 4x4gb

Would you really want to watercool? You want an AIO or custom? If you want an AIO I'd recommend going air instead, a DH-15 is better and quieter.

The 5930K isn't worth the extra money over the 5820K unless He plans on using 40 pci-e lanes.

^ this they are essentially identical in all other aspects so unless you going multi gpu - pci storage it's not needed. The next logical step would be a 5960x

At most just now I would run two gpus but would probably just leave that till next year and see what happens

Does it matter what 980ti I get? There's that many I'm not sure which one is best to go with

The Zotac GTX 980 ti is a good card which comes with a 5 year warranty after you register it.

Here is an X99 build. You still have money left over for a good monitor.

It doesn't particlual matter, some have better stock coolers on them letting them run cooler, others have higher stock clocks, others have custom PCB's with a higher power phase allowing greater potential to overclock.

Personally I always stick with EVGA cards, they have an amazing customer service team and i believe a 3 year warranty.
