First build confusion

Hey all
I’m ordering the parts for my first ever build this week and im looking for some help with hard drive choice
I’m not looking for to much storage as i already have a 500gb drive that im going to use in the build.
I’ve been looking at types of raid and im just a bit confused. I ideally need a setup that quite fast like raid 0 but with some sort of backup in case one goes wrong.
If anyone could pick out some drives that would work well with the setup they recommen then that would be ace
Sorry if that all sounds a bit stupid to some ppl but any help anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated

If you get two samsung 320GB drives (fastest cheap drive you can currently get) and configure them as raid 0 then regularly backup (either manually or with software) to the 500GB drive the system will go like lightning and be pretty well backed up. Alternatively get another two 500GB Drives and set them up as RAID 5 if your mother board supports it. This will run faster than a single drive, and if one drive fails you can replace it with no loss of data. As a final very simple option, just get another 500GB disk and set it up as RAID 1 or manually copy anything vital too it. I've always found the benefits of faster hard drives fairly limited anyway, more hastle than it is worth
