Hey

In the proccess of building my own PC. I think I know what im doing, but I just want to reassure myself..

Basically I have sata cables going into the back of my hard drive and SSD but it looks as if there is a port to the left of where I'm plugging it in! Do I need to get some more leads or is it fine?

Also another quick question, on my hard drive I have windows installed. Is it a problem if I just reinstall windows on the SSD then grab files from the hard drive while on Windows from the SSD. Then I can reformat my hard drives..

awesome thanks! feel a bit stupid now :D. The connections dont feel very good, a bit flimsy - is this normal?

Just to be super clear. The other connections comes from your power supply. This is what powers the drive. The cable you have connected at the moment is simply the data cable which connects to the motherboard.

Make sure you connect the SSD drive to sata port 1 on your motherboard and your other drive to sata 2.

It will be fine to install windows on the ssd. When you have both drives connected and both have windows installed onto them. You can select which you would like to boot into by setting it in the boot device priority in the BIOS. So Make sure after the install, your SSD is the primary boot device. Once in windows on the ssd. Copy over the files from the D: drive (your old hard drive) Then just right click and choose format from within windows. Takes all of 10 seconds.

Hope that's helped.
Yes that helped a lot thanks, also when I save general files on the computer how will i set it by default to save to my hard drive and not the SSD with windows on?
