It was`nt a criticism more an observation. Hell, I always look around for the bargains, makes sense and you get more for your money.

Do the 970 mobos support the fx6300 out of the box or do you need to flash the bios.
If so, don't you need another compatible cpu to use to flash with ?
I'm only asking as that's what I read somewhere.
Also...the FX 6300....is it Piledriver or Vishera ?

You may know more than me mate, but I think it's Piledriver and that CPU is on the supported list..

I don't know anything really about all this stuff, I just think I read somewhere that that the 990 mobos support the FX series and the 970 mobos need to be flashed.
I don't know for sure one way or another.

Went for the 270x in the end which I'm happy with. One question, do I need a CPU cooler, or will the stock one be enough.

I don't plan to OC straight away, but might revisit once I get more confidence.
