Just finished the build of my first home built PC for about 10 years and so far so good!! Amazing really!
Anyway, just thinking about the other post I have read, which programs are the best to stress the system and check all is OK?
Also, what do you use to check system temps?
Links would be helpful if they are allowed.

Many thanks
Andrew
P.S will drop a few photos on later for critique.

prime 95 is a good cpu stress test, but just some general gaming will be a decent test for the whole system.

I use core temp for my cpu temperatures

A quick google should find either of these

Thank you for those.
Core Temp currently showing 38c idle for my e8400 with a freezer pro. Is this OK to be starting with?
Been on for just under 1 hour now.
Will run a stress overnight I think.

That temp looks ok for idle. Keep an eye on it when you put load on it and see what that is like. I'd watch the stress test for a while just to get an idea of the temps, but other than that running overnight is a good idea.

Hmm.
First odd thing.
CPU-Z is reporting the CPU as running at 2Ghz rather than the full 3Ghz. Multipler is saying 6, bus speed 334mhz.
I have disabled Speedstep in BIOS.
Motherboard is a p5q pro with latest bios.
There is an Asus program called Six engine installed - is this maybe doing something? I have set to High performance but not fully read what it is all for yet!

Thoughts on that one?

You might need to go back into the BIOS and disable EIST as well as speedstep.
If your running Vista check ypur power options.
