first build, first problem

ok so im trying to install my cpu (conroe 3.4ghz) on my asus P5w DH Deluxe mobo, but the plate that comes down to secure to cpu doesnt want to, it moves the cpu slightly when i close it, so i cant close it all the way and i kno i shouldnt apply any pressure when installing the cpu otherwise i'll break it, so any tips please? thanks

omfg im a idiot, didnt remove the plastic cover on the back of the cpu, stay tuned though im sure i'll have more problems!

Are you sure you have the cpu in the right way?
