hey im looking to build a gaming pc for relatively cheap and i can upgrade parts when i get more money if possible, around the £500 mark, this build is a bit over, is this worth building?

CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler £24.98
MotherboardASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard £65.45
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memor £58.79

Video Card XFX Radeon R9 270X 2GB Double Dissipation Video Card
£131.12
Case Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case £44.99
Power Supply XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply £46.93
Optical Drive Samsung SH-224DB/BEBE DVD/CD Writer £11.05 (can maybe use one from old broken PC)
Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit)£69.65
Monitor LG 22MP55HQ-P 60Hz 22.0" Monitor £99.99

is it possible to make cheaper or better? any help will be appreciated
thanks

Easiest way to save some money is to buy a Windows key from G2A then spend the savings on an SSD like the one currently on the Today Only sale.

The CPU is easiest to upgrade, but I think you will be best with a Z97 board so you can drop in a i5/i7 "K" CPU later on and overclock it or Broadwell CPUs whenever they are released.

Then the GFX card could be changed later on, or indeed now as you can get a R9 280 for £150.

Also one thing to add to stulid's points (^)
The RAM in the spec won't work at the full 2133Mhz speed due to the nature of the H97 chipset. As stulid said, I'd be looking at a Z97 board (Z97P-D3 from Gigabyte for the lower end) as it allows for faster RAM (1600Mhz+) to be supported - the spec RAM will still work, but only at a lower speed (1600Mhz)

thanks, so i want to be getting a Z97 board, will it be ideal to get a good hard drive/ ssd maybe a good video card then get basic other parts and upgrade as the money comes in?

It has always been said if you are into gaming spend the most you can on the GFX card (but to a point).

SSDs can be added later, they only make things load faster. There is no frames per second gained.

Sort of;

Couple of things

Ditch the Hyper 212 Evo in favour of something else, they are recommended as good over in the US but here for some reason there are better value options
Ditch the XFX PSU - it will be very very good, but should it go wrong XFX RMA are apparently useless
Go for Win 8(.1), it's a faster OS generally and I think it's better to have the latest stuff?

I'd be looking at something like this

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Boost OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Card £129.95
1 x Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-Bit DVD - OEM (WN7-00614) £74.99
1 x Kingston HyperX 8GB (2x4GB) PC3-17100C11 2133MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black/Red (HX21C11BRK2/8-OC) £67.99
1 x Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £65.99
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L8 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - With 120mm Silent Wing Fan Built in £53.99
1 x Intel Pentium K Anniversary G3258 Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £52.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £38.99
1 x Antec One Gaming Case - Black £29.99
1 x Raijintek Themis Direct Contact CPU Cooler £17.99
Total : £547.86 (includes shipping : £12.50).

This is a basis, you can add an SSD/upgrade GPU later on, perhaps upgrade CPU etc, but the base can be kept the same

However in retrospect, your build seems veeeeeery cheap for just over £500 incl a monitor - excellent value :o

\/ @ Stulid just realised I had no PSU/monitor, edited

No monitor either.

@OP if you have £500 to spend on a PC and you can get a monitor too, then you really need to be biting their hand off.

I concur, it's really good value

Are these used parts or brand new? Prebuilt or similar? If new and even if it's prebuilt, that's really excellent value
If some parts are used, then I would see how it's panning out, but for new (sorry to keep banging on) it's really good!

At least (if possible of course) change the XFX PSU, as they are very good Seasonic made units but should it break, the XFX RMA service is apparently terrible - try and get a beQuiet, SuperFlower or similar unit if you'd like :)

Keep the one you put, besides no one knows how much you are paying for it all (dont mention it as competitor pricing and talk is not allowed).

aright cool, i'll make a new list and price it up and post it up here later on, thanks for the help! will i have any trouble with these components not being compatible?

You should have no issues with that lot, the H97 board may need a BIOS update to support the Pentium Anniversary edition, but if its pre-built PC then this should all be done for you.
