So the basics are ive always been a console gamer, wanting to go to PC, play new titles at prefrably ultra, seems im looking at i7 and gtx 1080? Although my knowladge is limited.

Budget id like to spend is £1K although can be stretched. (Edit: trust me, i know thats low for the specs, but as said, not firm on £1k, but lets use it as a base as it always ends up over anyway!)

I do need mouse and keyboard operating system too.

Not too worried about monitor but if theres a good deal why not...

Games examples:
GTA V,
DiRT 4 when it comes out,
Wildlands,
Other simulation racing games and fps that take my fancy!

Looking to put an order in once the holidays are over, although a pre built system is also fine if anyone thinks one is just as good bang for buck!

Thanks guys.

Looks good to me!, how long would this type of pc last before needing upgrading? I would be playing at 1080p atleast for now anyway, so i assume this set up would achive the ultra settings in most games?

Appriciate the input! One thing i completley forgot to mention was i would like to be able to use dual monitors,

One for the game and one for whatever else i need to do without having to minimize the game for a 20 second task! Would this spec still be fine?

Great! Is there a case that could be swapped so i could have a cd drive? I do have one in my old cheap ebay pc that im assuming i could use, but obviously need a case thats suitable too

I agree, and to be honest wouldnt mind without, its possible to swap over CD copy for an USB copy for photos i sell (i do motorsport photography, cd was one of the ways to sell, but its fine, i can actually still make a little profit with USB drive)

Sounds like a plan, so theres my build sorted! Will give them a acall on tuesday and if all items are in stock will hopefully be able to pop over and start the build!

Secondly, i offered my mother my ebay cheapie once ive got my parts, but apparently its not good enough for her needs...

So, build number 2,

She plays eros island and second life, and i beleive they arent that intense, so what spec would be suggested?

If its not too expensive i might try and squeeze to get both done and dusted!

Haha, im certain that i do not want to google it for my own good!

She has monitor keyboard mouse ect, she would need os, unless i can use the usb drive i would be getting twice (probably not though?)

Cheapy build spec is pretty poor, so would say its probably best to start fresh, although i assume the power unit would be fine.

Would need to have WiFi (might add this option to mine too, depends on how much that would cost)

She currently has a HP Pavillion, so certainly nothing snazzy, and it does work, but very slow and graphics like the playstation 2...

Model number is ATX-500B

Motherboard is MSI A55M-E35

Hard drive is a seagate 1000GB

That is all i can find, and hope that helps you.

Understood, part of the reason i missed PC...

Id rather add a reasonable PSU, much better in the long run...

Budget wise 6-700? Something that will play those games at a reasonable fps ect, she also hinted shes interested in a game called Identity thats not out yet (havent looked up what it is yet, and im way out of the pc games loop) so something that would also play that would be a bonus, or something that would only need a small upgrade once its out if its not out for a while!

Thanks Plec and Stulid! Put my order in couple days ago for my PC, work has been hectic again (hence the 4am wake up) so had to pay a couple extra pounds for them to pre build it for me, but also had the change graphics card as the one suggested was out of stock and end of life.

Was advised to go for a like for like GTX 1080, that i cant remember off the top of my head, but it was the same price.

Will be making an order for the 2nd PC once work calm down again for mother, saves me getting an ear full about her slow PC every time i visit!

Much appriciated guys!
