First build in a long while

Hi,

This is my first new build for quite a few years and I could do with a little advice or affirmation on choices.

I’d like to replace my aged aopen XCcube build (AMD 64 3000+ processor, 2GB of ram) with something a little more sprightly. Boots and loading times are very slow , I could reformat and make it last a while longer as eventually it does everything but ultimately it’s had its day.

Main use of the new build is web browsing, word processing, ripping CD’s and my youngest playing Sims 3. I’m being told the new build will need to play Sims 4 when it’s released shortly. Screen resolution is only 1360*768 on a Samsung TV.

I’d like to keep the build small and quiet too with a budget of ~£400.

I have Windows 7, a NEC DVD RW ND 2500A ATA Device, WD5000AAKS HDD and an AMD Radeon HD7450 in the XCcube that I could possibly reuse. I’m unsure of the SIMS 4 graphic demands and whether the onboard graphics are better than the Radeon I already have. I don’t think the SIMs is too demanding though as the XCcube plays Sims 3 fine now once loaded.
I’ve picked out the following parts and wondered if there are any problems with the spec. Thanks in advance for any help.

indeed... i use akasa 5£ thermal paste and it works a treat... get something along the lines of a deepcool cooler would go along side that rig nicely

I think it's just the formatting that's screwy... the thermal paste is only £3.98
