Hi,
Just wondering if any of you kind people could help me out here before I get the ol' debit card out.

Here are the specs I have in mind:

Mobo: Gigabyte GA_P35C_DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 & DDR3 Motherboard
(£93.99)

GFX: BFG GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
(£199.74)

RAM: GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC)
(£70.49)

PSU: Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CMPSU-520HXUK)
(£64.61)

HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
(£69.31)

Dvd: Samsung SH-S203BEBN 20x20 DVD±RW Dual Layer Serial ATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
(£19.96)

Case: Akasa AK-ZEN-01-BK Zen Black Case - No PSU (£30.54)

OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit Edition DVD - OEM (£64.61)

The only thing I'm really not so sure about is the CPU. There are several I have in mind and they all seem to have value for money in there own way. First, the Quad Pro Q6600 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.40GHz for £176. Is there any advantage for a gamer in getting a quad like this? I suspect I'll have to get a cooler on top of that.

Another choice would be E6850 "LGA775 Conroe" 3.00GHz again for £176. I'm sort of favouring this one at the moment. I'm not overclocking so would the E6850 be best? Or are there any better choices that hit a nice vfm sweetspot.

Another few issues: Is the Corsair HX 520W ok for this system. I may want to stick a tv tuner in there at a future date. Can 520w handle all this?

Any other issues? RAM ok?

This is my first major build so I'm in need of a little re-assuring before I go ahead and order.

It all comes in at £802 after shipping. Whaddya think?

Ok. I understand where your coming from on the quad issue but I always thought that the whole reason to get a p35 mobo was so that it would leave a good upgrade path with the quad penryn's in mind. So in another year and a half there will be some excellent penryn's available on the cheap.

I suspect the games we are looking at that will take advantage of quad will be Gears of War/ UT3 and Crysis. But wouldn't an E6850 handle those games for another year or two until another upgrade is needed?

Or am I talking a load of bs?

Thanks for all your input, btw. These forums are a life saver. :)
