Hi I received great help on here with ideas for my first build I was going to go for a Gigabyte Z97X-SLI with a Intel I7 4790K but ive seen a bundle including the i7 4790k but with the Z97P-D3.

What would I be losing by getting the Z97P-D3? As it keeps popping up everytime I am looking for parts.

Sorry if this is a silly question I am new to this

The SLI board as its name suggest supports SLI, so runs either 2way SLI or Crossfire at 8X/8X so each card gets equal bandwidth.

The Z97P-D3 supports 2way Crossfire at 16X/4X, a slot must be 8X at least for SLI support.

Both boards are fine with a single gfx card and both can overclock a "K" CPU.

There maybe other differences such as USB ports and slots and onboard display connectivity.

Right well I dont know if I will or I wont. The motherboard is the main thing confusing me at the minute, everything else I find pretty straight forward, I just dont want to buy something inferior when I could spend £50 more for something much better
