First build, no life at all!!

Had a bit of a breakthrough!!!!

Remembered I had an ooooollllllddddddd PC from around 1999 in the loft, got that out had a look at it's PSU, it is 245W, same make as my 450W PSU but with only a 20 pin main power connector instead of a 20+4 pin connector along with a 4 pin extra power connector. Anyway connected this 245W PSU to my new build even though it only had a 20 pin connector, and it burst into life first time!!!! it beeped, fan went round like a proper working PC!! (sorry getting delirious now:rolleyes:)
I said that I was talking myself into a new PSU, think I've just confirmed it!?!?!?!

How does this PSU look to everone?

That PSU is the one, brilliant brand so shouldn't be a problem.

As promised, an update.

Got the new PSU and system now works fine, very quiet, very easy to put in & get everything connected, so thanks for the advice all.

My only other (unrelated) problem is the front USB sockets, the rear 2 x USB 2.0, and the 2 X USB 3.0 sockets work fine, just a problem with the front 2 x USB 2.0 sockets.

When I plug anything in i get the messege 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (code 43)' I have checked & double checked that the socket headers are connected correctly, I have tried disabling, re-installing, no luck.

Running windows x64 Ultimate, any ideas??

I hope you bought the Corsair PSU.

Did you install new chipset update? try uninstalling the USB drivers from device manager then restart the computer. When the computer restarts the USB drivers are supposed to be installed automatically as windows detects them. Let us know if this works.

Yep, bought the Corsair PSU.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, disabling & re-enabling devices, no luck. I have tried 'looking' for new drivers from the ASRock CD and the Windows 7 CD, no luck.

Update,

I have even taken the drastic step of re-installing Windows 7 from scratch!, it was no big deal as I have only just installed it today anyway, but no change.

Am I right in assuming that I can only get this error message if the connectors were all connected correctly in the first place? If so I'm still stumped:confused:

Solved it,

This is embarrassing but I double checked the header connections on the Motherboard and the polarity was the wrong way round:o

oops!
