Hi

We have built our first ever system with the following spec, and wondering from the expert builders if I have gone for a good spec system or is there anything you would change.

Galaxy III Tower case
Corsair CS750M 750W Semi-Modular 80+ GOLD Certified
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 motherboard
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40Ghz Processor
Kingston Hyper X Blu 16gb Ram
DVD Drive
1TB hard drive
MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming Edition 4096MB GDDR5 Graphics Card
TP-Link 450Mbps Wireless adaptor
Akasa Internal media card reader and bluetooth

Thanks for any advice or suggestions

Hi

You say you have already built this pc ?

I would have gone for an i5 4690K and a Z97 board.

The i5 3570K is still a very good cpu (I have one myself) but Z77 is a dead socket. I hope you got the board/cpu for a good price.

I would have gone for a 550W psu as well, as that is plenty for a single R9 290.

Everything else looks ok.

Hi Lee32uk we have just finished building the system I have been buying parts as and when I could afford stuff and now completed it. The whole system has cost between £800 to £900 with buying everything from Overclockers.

Will I no longer be able to get stuff for it if the Z77 is a dead socket ??

You could put an i7 3770K in that board if you ever needed an i7 cpu (For Video editing/rendering etc) but that is your only option.

Like I said before, the i5 3570K is still a very good cpu. When I built my pc at the beginning of 2013 I went for the same cpu. I don't plan on changing my cpu for a few years yet as it will cope fine for my needs (Gaming and general use).

You would have been better going for the i5 4690k and a Z97 board as it is the current cpu/socket, and it will also support the next cpu (Broadwell) which is due out early next year.

It isn't a huge issue though, as the 3570K is still a very good cpu. It should last you a good few years.
