First Build, Quiet PC?

Hi Everyone,

I'm building my first PC, hopefully at the end of this week and I was hoping to get some help with the spec - at the moment I'm looking at:

One of my main focuses (apart from it being fast) is making it as quiet as possible, but without watercooling. My current PC while slow (AMD 64 3700+, nVidia 6600GT) is very quiet and I'm hoping to keep this around the same noise level - if possible. Ideally I'd like to also OC the processor to 3.0-3.2GHz because it'll often be rendering massive projects and that sort of OC should give pretty significant time savings.

I'm not really sure on the motherboard/hdds, I only chose those because Samsung are supposed to be quiet and the Mobo had built in Wi-Fi to save having to buy a separate card. Also I'll either be replacing all/most of the stock fans with 120mm Nexus Real Silent or Noctua 800RPM - most likely the Nexus ones since they generally get reviewed as slightly quieter than the Noctua ones and they're less than half the price.

If anyone has any advice or opinions on what to change (or if I'm missing anything? :p) that would be great, thanks in advance!

That Noctua cooler is just awesome, but the 90mm one works almost as well and is a wee bit cheaper.

I remember reading that you can fit 3rd party cooling onto the 4870?

You guys think why he putted the accelero on the list ? IT's A GPU COOLER...

I don't know about the Noctua but Tuniq Tower is dead silent on low rpm (and cools great at same time) and is bit cheaper.

You want to get tube of MX-2 for your GPU and CPU on this build.
Also if you want more silence you can consider getting the zalman hdd cooler.

Rest is fine, however I would get GeiL black dragon memory, but thats just me.

Thanks for the replies, yeah the Accelero (+ 120mm fan) is for the GPU because the 4870 is definitely too noisy on the stock cooler.

Added a tube of MX-2 to the list, will possibly swap the RAM as per your suggestion and I'll probably buy the Zalman HDD cooler(s) after I've built it, so I can see how noisy it is without them first. (I'm over my budget already :p)

Anyone have any other suggestions before I order tomorrow? Thanks again.

That Samsung drive is noisy as all hell, but there isn't much in the way of quiet DVD/RWs!

Please post your experience with the GFX cooler, I've been thinking of getting one myself.
