Will be using this for 2D/3D work (hence the 12Gb RAM) and gaming as well.

Won`t be overclocking so was wondering if the stock cooler will be good enough?

I went with a gtx275 card for now as it is more compatible with the programs I use will probably replace this in a year or so with a DX11 card. Although I`m tempted to try the 5850 instead will ask ocuk about the ETA on these cards.

PSU and case: I want something future proof hence my choice.

As for the monitor, I know it`s no Dell but will give it a shot as I need a second monitor and couldnt resist a 28" for the price :p.

Motherboard: opinions please.

Thanks in advance :)

Sik stuff. The cooler is adequate for stock voltages.

The screen is, whilst being huge, wouldn't be the recommended choice for 3d/2d work, more for gaming...

You can not spend 1.6k on a new pc and lump it with a gtx275. You need a 5850/5870 - or at least 5770 CF.

You do have a point there, except I can`t find a place that stocks them 58xxs :D Hopefully ocuk`ll have them in stock this week in which case I`ll gladly replace the nvidia card.

Unless you are doing hilariously high-res image work, more than 6GB will not be required.

You say you won't be overclocking, but does something like this at least tempt you? The extra speed will greatly improve your real-life performance (especially in image editors and CAD software).

You would be better off with more expensive monitor with a higher resolution than 1900x1200 at 28".

A 24" TFT is pinsharp at this resolution and 1900x1200 is the native resolution for this screensize. I use a 24" TFT myself at this resolution for creative 3D work in Maxon C4D. You could buy 2 and spread the screen and giving you a huge space for graphic applications.

28" TFT monitors with 1900x1200 just increase the pixel size.

I already have a 24" for 2d/3d work so the 28" is for gaming really.

That overclocked bundle does look tempting but 12Gb is more important for me atm, mainly because I usually have several apps open at the same time and they are *very* memory hungry, I speak from experience we use similar specs at work :)
