HI all,

I've been specing this system for quite a while now, whilst gradually saving up the money. Finally, this week i will be able to purchase!! :D

I have a 22" monitor lined up for Xmas, but havent decided on one yet.

So here it is:

Got a Few questions Aswell....

Which Mobo Abit IP35 or Gigabyte DS3P?

I can get a BFG 8800GT for the same price but are these able to overclock to good levels or will the standard EVGA be better as i can start overclocking from scratch?

Also I was considering the Lian-LI PC7B as a case, but is this comparable to the P182 in Cooling and
cable management, being a first time builder i think it would be a lot less fiddly if i had more room to work in.

Im going to uni next year and will be taking this with me. So will this last me
a good amount of time with minimal upgrades as money will be tight.

All help and comments appreciated!

It looks good. You could save a bit by getting the OEM CPU since you're replacing the cooler anyway. You could also get the Geil PC2-6400C4 since it's cheaper and will perform just as well.

I'd get the Gigabyte mobo at that price level.

If you can get the OC version of the BFG for the same price, I'd get it. Otherwise I'd stick with the EVGA because of their customer support.

EDIT: The P182 is bigger than the PC7. I like both but between the two I'd take the P182.

All looks good. Just get whichever 8800 GT is in stock, cheapest 512MB if you have a choice.

Either of those motherboards you suggest are a good choice.

Cheers billy,

What does the OEM Q6600 come with and does it have the same warranty as the Retail version?

Geil at £35 a pop cant go wrong!

Edit: Another Q

How much are the new GTS going to be as i have no real rush for this build until i fold out for Crysis
and some people are saying they are going to be better than the GTX's, however would the GT be
beter bang for buck at 1600 res?

It comes with the CPU, that's it. It has a 1 year warranty as opposed to the retail version's 3-year warranty. that, however, isn't much of an issue since CPUs, for the most part, either don't work at all/die in the first few days, or they last for years and years. If I were you I'd get the OEM version.

The 8800 GT is the only card out at the moment that I would get.

The [G80] 8800 GTS 640MB 112 Stream is due out soon, but it doesn't look to be much faster than the GT, and even slower at some resolutions.

The [G92] 8800 GTS is due out after that, no concrete info on how that will perform.

Cheers for the help Billy and Melbourne.

Reduced my build price and reassured me. :p

Now i gotta pluck up the courage hit that "buy" button. :D

that is pretty much the build i got bout month ago... Ive had no problems...i got the BFG 8800GTS 640mb tho.
