Hi all,

looking to do my first build, it will mainly be for office work and general home use, i.e. internet, photos, music etc

Below are the components i've decided upon after reading through the guide on this forum, (which btw was extremely helpfull)

I am still yet to decide upon a case and a monitor - so any suggestions as far as they are concerned would be greatly appreciated. In regards to the monitor, sleek/stylish would be ideal. I'm trying to keeep cost down as much as possible so bear that in mind :D And as for the monitor, flatscreen and 19'' would probably suffice.

As far as internet connectivity goes I want it to be wireless, now networks are not my strong point so any help there would be appreciated

Now for the current specs -

- Asus DRW-2014L1T 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer Lightscribe ReWriter (Black/Silver) - Retail
- Hitachi Deskstar 7K160 160GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM
- Crucial 1GB (2x512MB) DDR2 PC2-4200C4 Dual Channel Kit (CT2KIT6464AA53E)
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4600+ 2.40GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail
- Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3 AMD 770 (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- OcUK Huntkey 550W PSU
- Keysonic Wireless Keyboard/Touchpad ACK-540RF

I believe i've chosen parts that are all compatible, but hey, its my first time and i may be wrong

Feel free to add/change/recommend different parts

Also, this may sound a stupid question, but do I need to buy any cables etc?

have a look at the Samsung SM-932BF Pebble 19" monitor.

i'd drop the huntkey psu and go with the Antec NSK 4480 Mini Tower Case (Silver) - 380W Earth Watts PSU.

internet wise do you currently have a modem or router ?

GeIL Black Dragon 2GB PC6400
E2200
Asus P5K-VM (integrated graphics, so there will not be a need for a graphics card)
WD6400AAKS
Pioneer DVR-2215DBK
OcUK Value L-2041WD

This works out at just under £385. While it is more expensive than yours, it is more powerful, with a much larger hard drive (obviously don't buy one that large if you don't need it).
