started my first build all going well except a few things.

1: what is a ieee 1394 connector? is it firewire? as i carnt seem to find a connecton on my mobo wich is a gigabyte ga-ep43-ds3l

2: also there is a audio cable for the heaphone on the front of case i have a choice of either ac97 or hd connection which should i plug in the case is a coolermaster cm690

3: on my psu i have a 24pin poer cable a 4pin and 8 pin (my suppliy is modular so am on about the ables that are pre-fitted) but i have the 8pin now spare after pluging everything in is this ok??

also on the board the memory slots are red and yellow what colour is best to use?

1. IEEE1394 is commonly known as firewire, it will depend on the motherboard but quite a few have one on the backplate.

2. AC97 should be fine for headphones unless you've got particularly good headphones.

3. If your motherboard doesn't require the 8 pin connector then it doesn't require it so don't worry about it, just tidy it away if you are sure that you've connected everything correctly.

4. Not sure I'm afraid, the motherboard manual may have a suggestion but if not I'd go for the first slots as according to the manual.
 
cheers m8 one more thing i have installed the true 120 and it vibrates slightly is this fine it does not make a noise but you can see it moving slightly
 
probably best to make sure it's tight, it may only be moving a little bit now but if it comes looser down the line it could come off etc
 
i have no audio on my front panel i have pluged in the hd connection front the front panle to the plud on the mobo anyides what is wrong?
