First Build - Want reassurance and tips!

Hey all!

I'm planning on building my first computer soon, so I've been looking around for parts on Overclockers. I want the machine to be pretty powerful (Its primary use will be gaming), fairly future proof (So I've chosen a Crossfire-compatible mobo and a pretty powerful CPU), and I've got a budget of £750. Here are my choices:

Now I've got a few questions:
I don't know how much wattage I'll need. Have I chosen a good power supply?
Will it all fit in the case I've chosen?
Are there any better (Or cheaper) options?
If I want to overclock this, will I need anything extra?

Help is appreciated! Thanks! :D

First of all I'd ditch that incredibly expensive video card for either the 6950 (which actually costs LESS for a 2GB card), or a GTX480.

I'd spend slightly more on the PSU and get something like the OCZ StealthXStream 2 600W, always best to have a decent brand name with a PSU.

Personally though I'd go for something more like:

You could drop the GPU to something around the £150 mark and up to the i7 2600k, but for gaming it's pretty pointless.

For the wattage 600 is more than enough although if your gonna go crossfire/sli in the future it might be beneficial to go for 700-750w.

for overclocking, as long as you get a k-branded chip, and p67 or z68 motherboard, then you can overclock, but it is suggested that you get an aftermarket CPU cooler. the cheap but decent ones being corsair a50, gelid tranquillo, and hyper 212+

Good thing you checked first :) Go with Stulids. A 1055T will get annihilated by a 2500K, especially at stock speeds. The 6870 is crazy money compared to the 6950 2GB.

Add a £30 cooler now or later, and you're ready to overclock past 4.4GHz.

here are quick comparisons.

6870 vs 6950

1055T vs 2500K

yeah everyone just thinks that you spec every build and that there is no point in even speccing as you'll make a better one/beat them to it :p

on your list you have windows 7 bundle.

i cant find that bundle on ocuk for that price ?

ill have that bundle for the price your showing.

with the software bundles, when you choose the options applied (in this case the size of the hdd) when you look in the basket it seperates the price for the software and the hdd. so its not 68 for the bundle, its 68+48= £116

Wow, I'm glad I came over here to ask you guys! That looks a lot better than what I had, so I'll probably be getting this, unless someone can sway me otherwise. I guess I can stretch my budged that extra £8, but I'd have to get it this week (A few of those are on offer at the moment). Thanks a lot!

Nope, very good setup. The case is good, and you also have the Antec 100 in the same price bracket. You have the CM 690 II a bit higher up, which is very popular.

You can add a 3rd party cooler (£30) and overclock later, but as is, It's pretty kick ass.

Do go with the retail 2500K CPU, not OEM, for the added warranty. Plus, saves you buying a cooler for the CPU.
