I want to spend between £700 and 750 (however the less, the better) on the parts as I am then going to get a monitor for £120 or so afterwards (not sure which yet, that can wait :p) Would like it to be relatively future-proof hence the AMD route as opposed to the i5, but that, as anything here, is open to change.

I looked at a different motherboard (Gigabyte 785G I think, was about £64.) But I was told that I should definitely go with one more like what is there now, is that right?

I might start with overclocking on this PC as well, so is this suitable to teach myself that with?

Is there anything I should swap out, or anything I should include anyway?

And finally, as I have never build a PC before, is there any tips that would be useful? I am slightly wary of the whole static electricity thing, but I have been told that is exaggerated and isn't as big a problem as it is made out to be?

Thanks for any help at all guys, it's appreciated. I do apologise for the massive amount of questions :)

get the 955be CPU, its cheaper and can be turned into a 965 in seconds in the bios.

if you get the retail copy of windows then you can reuse it in other builds in the future.

seagate barracuda 7200.12 is a little cheaper and same performance.

I was considering the retail windows, but I don't imagine I will be doing any new builds within a good few years of this one, so figured the one use would be fine.

Main thing I was curious about was the motherboard, is that one overkill? I don't need any fancy extra features. The PC will be used for gaming and just general use (perhaps some HD videos as well).

+1 for the 955BE
This is the one I chose for a work mates build which I'm getting together at the mo.

save the difference and just clock the 955 up to get the same sort of performance as the 956
