Hey guys, this is going to be my first build, upgrading from an alienware m9750, as it is now an outdated, slow infuriating piece of crap!
Just wondering if you guys would mind giving me some input/critique/etc on it?
It's going to be used practically 24/7 with a lot of work in photoshop and illustrator on extremely hi res files, and a lot of playback of hi-def videos across multiple monitors.
Case: OcUK RaidMax Simplex Gaming Tower Case
PSU: Xigmatek NRP-PC702 700W
CPU: Intel Core-i5 2500k
Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-UD3
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 6950 (Running @ 6970)
RAM: GeIL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (will keep at 8GB for now, and add another 8GB possibly in the future)
Optical Drive: LiteOn iHBS112 12x BluRay-RW / 16 x DVD±RW Drive
Hard Drive: Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 3TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM
CPU Cooler: Prolimatech Megahalems
Accessories: Scythe Kaze-Master 5.25" Fan Controller
Icybox IB-863-B 5.25" Card Reader with multiport front panel
Total Cost: £1020 (roughly)
I don't think I've left anything off there.
Now, I know that the 9650 is a full size card, and may cause complication with it's placement in regards to where the hard drive bays are on the asgard, but since I have chosen to use only one hard drive, I don't see it as a problem, since I could essentially completely remove the 3.5" bays from the case, and place the hard drive with the 5.5" bays, leaving space for the GPU to site nicely, with the airflow from the front fan coming through almost completely unimpeded.
So yes, thought, suggestions, critiques etc.
Please let me know!
