Hey guys, this is going to be my first build, upgrading from an alienware m9750, as it is now an outdated, slow infuriating piece of crap!

Just wondering if you guys would mind giving me some input/critique/etc on it?
It's going to be used practically 24/7 with a lot of work in photoshop and illustrator on extremely hi res files, and a lot of playback of hi-def videos across multiple monitors.

Case: OcUK RaidMax Simplex Gaming Tower Case
PSU: Xigmatek NRP-PC702 700W
CPU: Intel Core-i5 2500k
Motherboard: Gigabyte P67A-UD3
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 6950 (Running @ 6970)
RAM: GeIL 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz VALUE PLUS Dual Channel (will keep at 8GB for now, and add another 8GB possibly in the future)
Optical Drive: LiteOn iHBS112 12x BluRay-RW / 16 x DVD±RW Drive
Hard Drive: Hitachi Deskstar 7K3000 3TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM
CPU Cooler: Prolimatech Megahalems
Accessories: Scythe Kaze-Master 5.25" Fan Controller
Icybox IB-863-B 5.25" Card Reader with multiport front panel

Total Cost: £1020 (roughly)

I don't think I've left anything off there.
Now, I know that the 9650 is a full size card, and may cause complication with it's placement in regards to where the hard drive bays are on the asgard, but since I have chosen to use only one hard drive, I don't see it as a problem, since I could essentially completely remove the 3.5" bays from the case, and place the hard drive with the 5.5" bays, leaving space for the GPU to site nicely, with the airflow from the front fan coming through almost completely unimpeded.

So yes, thought, suggestions, critiques etc.
Please let me know!

I'd get a silver arrow or archon or d14 cooler

Silver arrow comes with 2x TY-14 fans worth £20
Archon comes with 1 x TY-14 but is up there with the d14 and SA
Noctua d14 comes with 2x fans worth £20 or more

Power supply I'd get a corsair or Antec TruePower New Modular 650W

Bit of a downgrade that....
Then again, you must be something special to get a 9650 :p

But looks fine :)

Not sure how well Corsair Vengeance will go with the CPU cooler though - just fitting issues....

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm waiting on finding out if the MegaHalems will fit, if it doesn't then I don't think any of the cooler suggestions would fit, unfortunately.

looks good but what are you paying for it.
Total price is looking to be about £1150

I didn't even notice that hahaha, haven't been to sleep, so I'm like a zombie.

I had thought that the corsair may present an issue, any suggestion for RAM that's not as high?

Excellent, thanks mate, will swap out the corsair for the GeIL.

EDIT: I'm also thinking of dropping the sound card from the main build of the pc, it's not really something that's needed as much, and would save me a bit of money, you guys think it's a smarter idea to do so?

wont fit where ? you don't have to get that case.
Build it around one of those 3 coolers why settle for second best you will keep the cooler a long time.

That is true, looking through the site, I'm liking the RaidMax Simplex Gaming Tower, seems that it'd fit everythign comfortably

I'd strongly suggest a better case something like cooler master haf 912.
I don't think a fan controller is needed either.

the fan controller isn't neccesarily needed no, but tbh it's something I like the look of, and can come in handy, so I'm wanting it for looks more than anything, which is probably a bit stupid but eh, I want it to look pretty.

Had a look at the case, not really a fan of it, looks very gaming pc, I much prefer sleek, flat sort of things, which is why I'm thinking the RaidMax Simplex now.

So thats the same stuff, with the better case, psu.

how the hell did you get a £1050 total?

Thought you were told to get a better case?
Yes where's the better case

I had thought C64 meant the asgard, not the RaidMax Simplex, thus I had picked that case out as something that caught my eye and seemed a nice size.

I had gotten the roughly £1020 figure from the basket with the items I have on my list, plus two Akasa viper fans from OC.co.uk (£955.80), plus the PSU price (£76)

I am very much liking the look of the Antec 100 though

Thanks Guys
