Hi guys,

Finally getting round to ordering my new pc and it should all be here by the weekend.

As this is my first build, this might be a stupid question, but will all the cables etc I need come with the various components? Is there anything I should buy which I will need during assembly?

Also, should I be doing anything to counter static when assembling?

You should get all relivant cable with various parts.

Motherboard will come with Sata cables, PSu with power cable ect..

All you'll need more assembly really is a screwdriver and a steady hand.

Not really. Just keep the motherboard on it's anti-static bag until in the case and make sure that it's kept away from any such thing thatcould make it static. Though unless you are careless (which im sure your not) nothing should be a problem.

though if you are woried, you can buy anti-static wristbands. I know people who use these, just in-case, though i've done my 4 rebuilds without one.

What parts are you getting?

Generally you should not need any extra parts to complete the build.

Tool wise you should need a + head screwdriver and some cable ties are handy for tidying up the case.

Static wise you should be ok, just ground you self on a radiator before you start.

Looking at that you should not need anything else but an afternoon, a screwdriver and some cable ties to put it all together.

Actually the outside of the antistatic bags IS conductive, this is what makes the inside of the bag antistatic ;) The underneath of a mouse/gaming mat is antistatic and makes for a good building surface or just use the cardboard box the mobo came in. Before he opens the boxes he just needs to ground himself on the case :)

OPs spec is pretty solid. However I would suggest THIS RAM kit. It's 8GB at 1600mhz, running higher than this on the 1155 socket makes no real odds, get the 8GB for £5 less.

P.S

There is THIS optical drive for the same price. It's faster and providing it is still the 124B it can be crossflashed with the 524s firmware to unlock the extra features. OEM means no burning software inc. just use imgburn which is a great free and easy to use burning suite :D

Hi hon,

Thanks for the advice. I will swap the RAM and optical drive in.

I have a friend who said he will build the pc for me but I am not sure I will be able to wait for him to be free to build it!

Watch this it should give you some confidence to do the build. If you want to attempt the build yourself just come back here, if I'm not around to help talk you through there will be plenty of other forum members willing to help :)
