Hello all,

I am building my first system tomorrow, and there are a few questions that I need to ask.

1. Do I need to do anything to the motherboard (Maximus hero VI) before I install windows like change any settings or anything?
2. Will I connect all fans/extra fans to the motherboard with splitter cables? (no fan controller- got the h100i controller)
3. Can I have a push pull setup on my h100i with 2x push fans 1x pull fan on top (as I can only fit one on the top of the case – CM stormstryker don’t want to remove the handle).

I am pretty confident with putting everything else together, if anyone has any useful tips that I should know that would be very helpful.

I will post some picks when I am done

1. Check the date and time, and see if the UEFI sees all your new stuff, default settings usually work.
2. That is up to you.
3. Again up to you really, do you want the 3rd fan or not?

Take it slow, don't do it on carpet, check all your wires, check them again, and then leave the side panel off because Murphy's Law.
 
1. If using a SSD for your OS installation make sure it is set to AHCI in BIOS.
2. Make sure if you are only using 2 ram slots that you use the dual channel slots. e.g. For a dual channel setup you would put the ram in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 rather than next to each other.
 
Ok thanks, I have an SSD that I need to format, was hoping to do it in the windows installation options.

What is AHCI ? and what menu does it come under?
