So am just building my first Pc. Going Intel and have pre-ordered the core ultra 9 285k cpu and MSI MPG Z890 CARBON WIFI (LGA 1851) DDR5 ATX Motherboard. Just looking for options if this is a good choice or not.

There haven't been any reviews yet, so it is very hard for us to make that judgement, especially without knowing how you plan to use your PC and what your requirements are.

I do suspect you're overspending on:
- The CPU, since if you're a gamer, you won't need that many cores.
- The board (even with a top spec CPU), but we'd need to know what your workload is ('cos gaming usually doesn't matter, but long run workloads might) and see some thermal testing to know for sure.

Yeah, impossible to say without seeing reviews first and what your use case is OP.

If all you want to do is play LOL or Minecraft then it’s probably a waste of money.

Always wait for reviews before buying anything.
