Hi, yesterday whilst dropping my daughter off at school, I pulled into this empty side road/lay-by and put the car in reverse. I started reversing at approx 3 mph and felt a bump as a car pulled up right behind me.
I got out of the car and this lady was already pen and paper in hand for my details. I accept it was my fault as I should have been glued to my mirrors and have elected to pay outside of insurance as I have just signed up with a new company. It was the Right front side I hit

That night, her husband dropped a quote through my letterbox from somewhere (there is no letter head or contact number on the sheet. Luckily she lives nearby so I was able to sneak a couple of photos of the damage to her car as I overlooked it at the time.
The reason for posting this is that I want to know whether I am being screwed by somebody here. when you consider, there is no damage to my car whatsoever and I backed into her at no more than 3-5 mph.

Her car is a 2008 VW Polo

Bumper damage

This all seems rather excessive, appreciate any comments thanks.

I think she pulled up behind me and stopped - probably thought I could wait whilst she unloaded her kids. Unfortunately, my rear window had steamed up and I couldn't see her in my side mirrors from the angle I was at.

The lady rang me last night and told me the garage where she got the quote said to inform her insurance company, which she did. Is that it then, that's the direction it has to go? One more thing, I have £300 excess, does that apply if fixing someone else's car only?
