£450 is really low!

I'm pretty sure 'Diamond' only offer insurance to women too..
No, they don't.

It is illegal for them to only insure someone due to their sex. They may *cater* for women, but legally they still have to provide cover to men, too.

In fact, due to their "preference" for women drivers, the number of claims for male drivers is much lower, so the risk to them is less, so men can often get good quotes from companies such as Diamond and Sheila's Wheels

Hows that work? The insurance risk is still the same for them, and thats what the quote you on.

But it's also on how many people with similar circumstances have claimed against the company. So, less males with policies, less males who could claim, so lower cost to them, which in turn can lead to lower policy prices for you.

Of course, it may not be the case for your circumstances, but if it's purely down to a calculation of your risk in a certain car - why is there such a wide range of possible quotes if they don't take into effect the cost to them with those circumstances.

It's often why an insurance company may be good for you for a couple of years and then not - they've given good quotes to similar people to yourself, the cost to them has gone up so they need to increase the premium to suit - and as people move from one expensive company to a cheaper, the one that's not had as many claims in the last x years becomes cheaper again.

No. If they insure 10 men and 1 claims then thats the same as a bigger copmany insuring 100 people and 10 claiming. On average the claims/risk will be the same.

If I was rich I wouldn't care about insurance, however I dont see the point in buying a fancy car straight away. The possibility of you damaging it can relatively high as a new driver. Luckily I haven't had any accidents myself.
