Hi guys,

Considering I passed yesterday, am shopping around for insurance quotes. Admiral seem to be the best (punto '96 1100cc) for £1500 fire and theft.

Personally I think that is still very expensive.

What companies do you recommend? How much was your insurance for your first car and what was it?

Would you recommend taking the pass plus (for £150) ?

Have you added an older female's name to your quote with the Admiral group insurers? I found this brings down the quote a little.

If you can save £150 or more on insurance by having Pass Plus, then it's worth it ;)

I've been looking at a 1998 Punto, 1.1, 3rd party fire and theft ( I passed last week, im 22, male, so similar situation to you) - I've found its possible to get it down below 1200 quite easily, elephant were good.

Its only speculative at the moment though! No pass plus here.

rite on my 1.25 fiesta 16v i got 957 bean from barclays!! TPFT... im 17 with 0ncb and no pass plus... that was the best quote by far... my average quote being about £2000 TPFT...Second cheapest for me was virgin... try both of these... should beat that admiral quote...

btw... adding parents etc didnt help me at all... in most circumstances it raised it a bit

Deffo do pass plus. Not sure on the insurance group of your Punto but my cinq sporting which uses the same engine as yours got me a quote off NU of £620 with PP for my first year!

Tescos were good for me but obviously it'll be entirely different for you as I'm female so that helped.
I won't say what my quote was b/c people will hate me :o

Woah, I've just been doing an insurance trek (sooo many websites!)

Age: 22
Driving: 2 weeks
Car: Fiat Punto 1.2 5 door 1998
Value:800
Cover: Admiral, 3rd party fire and theft, 150 mandatory excess

PRICE: £908.25 a year

PRICE with my mum as a named driver: £745!!!!!! :D :D :D

Holy moly that's cheap as chips!

Oh, I know in the grand scheme of things its still pricey, but hey, its half what people are quoting above!

If I buy the car for 700, that means all in irts under 1500, asside from tax, which is about 100 quid right?

I went liverpoolvictoria on my first (and current :D) car

1.8 Clio 19y/o male, been driving a week. they quoted me £860 tpft. I pay £68/month, very reasonable :D
