Hi Folks,

I've been lurking around here for a while, absorbing information. I got my 350D a couple of weekends back, along with a 70-300mm Tamron, courtesy of some nice folks from the MM

Having spent a couple of weekends snapping away; I'd like to share some of my favourites for your comments & critique. Please, be as honest as you like, im here to learn, not butter my ego... although that would be nice.

Anyhow; on with the pics - a few more can be found on my Flickr Page

train pic is great, the helicopter pic is good also. With that one it might be worth setting a very fast shutter speed (if you have the light, maybe outside on a sunny day) to see if you can trap the blades still !

pictures are looking good, i too enjoy the heli shot and the train shot. How have you found the 350D? i'm just about to make the big leap into DSLR and was debating that or the 20D, and looking at fleabay i could get a lot more for my cash going the 350 way. would you recommend the 350D to anotehr beginner?

Not sure I should be the one to recommend anything; i've barely scratched the surface of what the camera can do :p

Generally; it feels ok; settings arent intuitive for a complete n00b to just pick up & go, but now im starting to get used to them; seem ok to find etc.

My biggest complaint so far is lack of a 2sec timer, which would be nice for macro stuff; 10sec is too long to wait for a shot :(

It was the price that initially attracted me to the 350D, along with the fact that it cant devalue too much more, so if i found that it was just another gadget that I didnt use; well, not much lost.

I think its a good place to start, and to build a collection of glass; but if i keep at it, I'd reckon on not keeping it much longer than 12-18months before going for something just a little bit more modern :)
