First crash today, happened at college in the car park (hate that place, the car park sucks!)

Anyway, I pulled out of my parking space and was heading for the exit. Some girl pulled into a parking space ahead of me. She started reversing out and I just thought she was gonna reverse out a little to straighten up and pull back into her space. So I carried on driving towards the exit (I was on the left like I should be, she was in a space to my right.) Was going past her then the next thing I know she's hit the rear side of me.

Not really sure whose fault it is, fault on both sides I reckon. Though I did have right of way.

Scratched, dented and creased the bodywork on my car, from a few inches infront of the wheel to the fuel cap.

Scratched her bumper and thats pretty much it.

She got out, started having a go at me, could tell she was all shook up, as was I, though after she calmed down she said sorry for shouting. Exchanged names and numbers, she didn't know who her insurer was so I guess daddy is paying for everything for her.

We're both ok, just shook up. Would probably be a write off for my car, an L reg 3 door Astra. I'll see what my dad says we should do when he gets back from work. Pics below...

Damage is kinda hard to see. I'll take more pictures later. Not a good day :(

Edit: linked to images rather than show them.

Why would that be a write off?

Unlucky, but that isn't really a crash at all.

It's just a car park bump. :)

Gah sorry to hear that Beck, glad your ok though, I presumed the worse!. See if she will settle instead of going through insurers.

I suppose it depends how much the car is worth. I might be tempted to pay for it fixing and not take the hit on insurance.

She doesn't look too bad from the neck down. Come up with some form of physical recompense.

Well the car aint worth much, so if I went through my insurer and the work would cost a few hundred then they might write it off. I dunno, never been in this kinda situation before.

Like I said it's kinda hard to see the damage in the pics.

At least I was not the only one thinking that ;)

Suppose it could be a write off if it is an uneconomical repair. My gf is waiting to hear if her car is a write off with damage to the rear quarter.

Probably not worth going through your insurer then. Get a quote from a few garages on repair costs.

Only if they're overheading the value of the car should you consider scrapping it for a new one.

Me, it makes her look unnatractive and seeing as that is the way the conversation seems to be going i see it as relevant :p

Seriously, don't bother with insurance. It'll bump up not only her insurance but your next renewal even if she is found to be at fault and, to be honest, it's only a scratch and a bit of a dent. See if you can touch it up/buff it out or just live with it!

I clicked this thread expecting to see a mangled wreck :p

heh, got a few chuckles, ta :P

Yeah, don't think it's worth going through insurers, lose all no claims price will probably go up next year. I'll get some quotes and whatever, see what she wants to do.
