First Crysis 2 PS3 Footage

If you're sitting about 7 or 8 feet away from your TV you probably won't even notice the AA.
Exactly.

And to those asking why it struggles with AA its heavily dependant on the game and the programming techiques differernt devs use, as its custom architechture make it harder to code for unless you know what you're doing and can get the best from it (which is why Killzone and Uncharted look and run so damm good). I am unaware of any issues with shadowing.

See that's what irritates me about game developers! Take Killzone 2 and Uncharted as prime examples, superb graphics and game play yet we get a port of Black Ops that looks like **** and runs like an old dog. I would have assumed Crytek would have put a little more effort in with utilising the power a PS3 has, doesn't seem to be the case so far with Crysis 2.

a friend of mine who is a game coder was giving me the lowdown on this sort of thing a while ago. he said the reason killzone II as an example looks so much better than the vast majority of games on consoles is because the PS3 is a powerful machine, but its harder to get to that raw power than it is with the xbox 360, apparently down the fact that the xbox 360 is coded very similarly to the PC where-as due to hardware differences, etc. the PS3 is apparently a pig to code for. so the biggest reason that killzone looks so good compared to crysis II, because the developers had to develop the engine for a specific piece of hardware, it only runs on the PS3 which means you can learn where the performance is, what impacts negatively on performance vs. the xbox 360 (which might be totally different) and adjust accordingly. ;)

all in all i think he raises a valid point with what he said, its far easier to work with just one specific collection of hardware/software than it is to work with various types, i think exclusives will always be more polished, graphically superior, etc. than the multi-platform releases for these reasons. barring any game that gets released on PC as well, due to the sheer brute force modern gaming PCs have to overcome the shortcomings that consoles have. :)

It does alright in games such as killzone and uncharted.

The PS3 seriously struggles at shadows, especially when everything else looks so damn good,

All PS3 exclusives look amazing, I won't deny that but shadows are horrendous
