Firstly, please stick with me as it's a big post. I'm thinking of pushing a little further with Watercooling as I think I've reached the max that my Zalman v2 can go with this CPU setup. If I try to push for 3.5Ghz or 3.6Ghz due to voltage increases I see my load temps are nearly at 70ºC. This is too much for my liking. At my current speed, I see about 60-65ºC at load.

So, I've pieced together the following and I would appreciate your thoughts on the parts please. I would also like to know, will this easily bring down my temps compared to the Zalman? Now, I've decided to go with 1/2" tubing for this build, so I hope everything will fit... please let me know if something is wrong!

CPU Block

D-Tek Fuzion V2 Universal CPU Block --- £39.99
D-Tek Fuzion v2 Quad Core Mid-Chamber Insert --- £4.99

With the Chamber insert it says that it's more optimised for Quad Core CPU's than the Quad Split Nozzle that comes with the CPU Block. If I were to get the Chamber insert I take it this means I don't need to fit the nozzle also?

Pump

Swiftech Laing D5 Vario MCP655 12V DC Pump --- £49.99

Resevoir

Swiftech MCRES-Micro Watercooling Resevoir --- £8.99

Radiator

Thermochill PA120.2 120mm Double Radiator --- £46.99
AC Ryan Blackfire4 UVLED Fan - 120mm UVBlue --- £5.99 (x2)

How do people power the fans on the radiator if they are outside of the case? Do I just need to daisy chain some power connectors from inside to outside?

Tubing

DangerDen ClearFlex60 1/2" Tubing - 1m --- £2.99 (x2)
PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coils 3/4"- Gloss Blue --- £1.99 (x2)

Fluid

PrimoChill Pure™ Extreme Coolant - Clear --- £5.99
PrimoChill Dye Bomb - Steel Blue --- £2.99
PrimoChill Liquid Utopia Protective Fluid --- £4.99

Fittings & Clips

XSPC Tubing Clip For 1/2" Hose --- £0.49 (x8)
EK 1/2" ID fitting G3/8" (For Radiator) --- £1.99 (x2)
EK 1/2" Hose fitting (For Resevoir) --- £1.99 (x2)

Misc

120mm x 100mm Velcro Pad --- £1.99 (x2)

===============

That's it I think! So if someone could please tell me what barbs I need, or provide a link that would be great as I think that's everything. :)

Total price including VAT seems to come to £236.62 which is quite reasonable.

Thoughts, comments and answers much appreciated!!!! :D

EDIT1:- Added Algae and Corrosion protection.

EDIT2:- Added barbs for Radiator and Resevoir. Also changed Radiator make/model. Reduced tubing clips from x10 -> x8.

you'll probably get more help in the overclocking/cooling forum mate. I'd RTM this thread if I were you to get a mod to move it for ya.

Ahh ok, cheers for the heads up. What is RTM btw? lol :o

Do I need to email a MOD to get them to move this for me?

Thanks.

For that rad G1/4 (aka 1/4" BSPP) 1/2" barb.

Comments
7/16" tubing might be better. I find it easier to use and has a very secure fit on 1.2" fittings.

Why that rad? Thermochill PA120.2 would be my choice. Thats a 3/8" thread 1/2" barb. The Swiftech MCR220 wouldn't be far behind.

What about some biocide, dye, corrosion inhibitor etc?

With regards to the radiator, I dunno mate. Just picked one that sounded decent. lol. Say I change it to the Thermochill option, will I need 2 of these fittings instead...

If so, I'll change my list accordingly. Let me know. :)

With regards to biocide, and corrioson protection... good call! I missed that one. I'll add this to my list:-

PrimoChill Liquid Utopia Protective Fluid --- £4.99
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ame=PrimoChill Liquid Utopia Protective Fluid

That seems to protect against algae and corrosion.

I also already have a dye added in my list.

Thanks!

This EK may be better, prefer an o-ring seal myself.

Im not that keen on the plastic barbs on the res you've chosen, a couple of the G1/4 1/2" barbs might be a good idea. You get a couple of good plastic clips with the res. You need eight in total.

You might want to add an inline t-piece and fillport (drainport?) to drain it, I never bother tbh. Add it at the lowest point in the loop, useful if its all mounted inside a case.

Thanks again.

Ok I think I get what your saying mate, so for the Radiator I need two of these:-

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...=193&subcat=1049&name=EK 1/2" ID fitting G3/8

And for the Resevoir I need two of these (to use instead of the plastic fittings):-

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...tid=193&subcat=1049&name=EK 1/2" Hose fitting

And then I need eight of the plastic tubing clips, not ten, as stated in my spec sheet?

:)

Looks good. :)

I'd stick with the TFC radiator if I were you - from what I can see it's a thermochill PA120.2 clone but with flattened copper tubes inside instead of brass, and seems to be about the same price.

I'd say stick with the micro-res as well - I've just switched to using a T-line and they're so much more hassle to fill and bleed.

The barbs yes correct. You get a couple of 1/2" clips like these with the res.

So you'd need 6 more, I like to use metal hoseclips on the rad/blocks and pumps. But the plastic ones work well. If you get 7/16" tube even zip ties will do well. Its a tighter fit.

Have a read up on the rads, lower pressure drop for a given flow rate is the aim. With an open matrix to improve air flow without silly high pressure fans.

Cool. :D Thanks ever so much.

Wonder how much it'll let me push the system? With this spec mate, does it seem pretty decent in your opinion?

As for your question about powering the fans. My rad is outside my pc room on a windowsill so i made up my own molex lead. Proper colour wires and all!! 5m long it is. Got the molex plugs and pins from a large electrical retailer that we are not allowed to mention. Works a treat. :D
