Hi guys,

First ever build and I heard here is the best place to get advice.

Samsung SSDs are what I'd go for every time - never had any problems with them. WD have only started making SSDs recently, so I can't comment on their reliability. If it's anything like their HDDs though, I'd be very happy with one. My concern would actually be the PSU. For the same price you can get one of these:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/evga...plus-gold-modular-power-supply-ca-023-ea.html

It's a Seasonic designed platform and is compact and has good quality internals.

Some of Corsairs PSUs are very good, but the CS series is one of their cheaper units and uses second-tier capacitors rated at 85C. The EVGA unit is better quality for less money.

PS: remove the link as it's against the forum rules re: competitors.

He can get a SuperFlower Leadex 550W for less than the EVGA GS.

Hi

Is this just for gaming ? What monitor are you going to be using ? You open to an AMD Ryzen build ?

Only reason I suggested the EVGA GS is that it doesn't have the LEDs that the Superflower Leadex has. I'd go with the Superflower any day, but I know that the LEDs can be an 'acquired taste'. I'd agree that Ryzen is a good alternative. The OP could get a good R7 1700X build fort a similar price. 8 cores and 16 threads will have better longevity than the 7700Ks 4c/8t.

The Phanteks Eclipse has a psu shroud though so they won't really be seen.
