tl;dr Where can I buy sheets of plastic film (like photographic film) that are opaque, black and not sensitive to heat? Is there anything better than gaffer tape for a non-permanent adhesive that doesn't leave a difficult to remove mess?
I want to make my Prodigy server/nas thingy-ma-bob as quiet and as dust free as possible. With that in mind, I'll be ordering a fan controller when the one I want is back in stock.
The spec is as follows.
P8H77-i
Intel Celeron G540 (with a stock cooler)
8gb's of Samsung Green RAM
2x WD Red 2TB
1x WD Red 3TB
1x WD 320Gb (that I took out of my Foxsat)
1x OCZ Vertex 2e
Seasonic G-Series 360w (I don't think I ever even heard the fan on this PSU)
All that truly beastly hardware is encased in a Bitfenix Prodigy.
To address the issue of cooling, my plan is-
To address the issue of dust and noise, I intend to get my hands on some thin, black plastic sheet/film (the stuff they use for x-rays jumps to mind) that I can cut to shape and block any unnecessary, non-filter air intakes such as the area around the front fan, the perforated side panel and maybe half or all off the top mesh depending on CPU/case temps and the airflow. I'm also considering placing the case on some form of rubber feet to help dampen any vibration.

To address the issue of cooling, my plan is-
- replace the solid front panel with one of the Bitfenix mesh panels (this'll also help with the dust as the mesh panel is filter where as the solid panel isn't).
- replace the heatsink with an old Cooler Master TX3 EVO. This is more about noise than temperature as the hottest I've ever seen the G540 with the stock heatsink was 40c.
- add extra fans if necessary (when I get the fan controller).

- So, is there a flaw with my plan?
- What type of plastic should I use and where can I get it*?
- I've heard gaffer tape recommended for a good non-permanent way of sticking things down, can anyone vouch for this and does it leave much residue when you remove it?
