First ever gaming PC - need a little help

Alright sweet. Thanks for your help mate.
One last thing, whats the difference between AMD and Intel? is there much difference? A friend of mine said I should go for Intel, does it really matter? I've seen a lot of rigs using AMD so I'd assume not, right?

difference is money, intel are great if you have loads, AMD are better on a budget,

building a computer is simple, you need some clean space, preferably static free, so a desk, not carpet, a pozidrive screwdriver, a calm cool head and non fidgity fingers, add that to about half an hour to 45 minutes and you will have a working machine ;)

If it's your first build, you can expect to have a few moments of bafflement - I would expect to set aside at least 3 hours, and possibly have a spare computer to ask questions of the people here while you're doing it.

If you can live without PhysX and can stretch to an extra £15, this is a much better graphic card to get, at least while stocks last:
MSI 5850 Deal, £125

it's not much better  for the extra 15 quid, the increase in performance is neglible against the 460 ;)

I was trying to send you a PM, but I'm new here aswell and not sure how to...:p

Anyway, I was in pretty much the same situation as you coming from a background of laptops, so I decided to build a gaming PC. I was worried at first about how I would manage, but after reading a few articles on the web and viewing a couple of Youtube videos it seemed very easy. The only thing I found tricky was installing the RAM, but that was sorted in a couple of minutes after I posted on here! :D

So good luck with your first build and don't be afraid!
