I have a fun exam later, Histories, concepts and philosophies.
Basically a load of crap about the nature of science, feminism and science etc. Stuff that is not relevant to conducting research in any way shape or form, and is more to do with the politics of the subject - as in how do universities rank it in scales of importance as well as how to define the science to gain funding.
At nearly every other university I looked at this was done in year one (its mandatory), whereas at ours its done in the third year. This is because year 1 means nothing and most people agree that its a load of rubbish forced on them by the government and they therefore don't want it affecting students degrees. For some reason we have it in year 3 and therefore its worth a lot (as a side note I was accidentaly sent an email by a tutor stating that 90% of the staff wanted to move it to the first year because it was ruining good students degrees, and because it was a waste of time).
We weren't even taught the course properly. I have read through about 30 academic journals and made notes on them (proper decent notes), as well as reading the notes made by my girlfriend on another 30 papers and I then tried to answer a question and found I had absolutely no clue. I'm tearing my hair out here as I have the exam at 10am, I don't know anything and I hardly had any sleep last night so I can't really stay up all night working - I don't think I'll get anywhere.
I think I'll just have to accept the knock to my degree (which is already in trouble!).
