Ello all - New here as you can tell! Im after a bit of help with a new Gaming build.

I used to play counterstrike before the days of XBOX live, and fancy building a half decent Budget Gaming Rig to get back into the latest titles (that and our current PC is slow!)

Will be accumulating parts new and/or second hand over the next couple of weeks and so far the spec is as follows:

3570k,
Z77 mobo,
Enermax ETS-T40-TA cooler,
120ish GB SSD + 1TB storage,
8gb RAM.

And thats about as far as Ive got!!

Not sure on which case to go for, Im thinking:
Coolermaster HAF 912 plus
Gigabyte G2-G2 - although this could be too narrow for cooler?
Zalman Z11?

Any other ideas for a half decent case that will keep things cool and under £60 - or any views for and against on the ones listed above?

Next up MOBO-
Gigabyte G1-Sniper M3
Asrock z77 extreme4

Still undecided on these too - May eventually go SLI/Crossfire as undecided on graphics card too.

And PSU, Ive no idea but aiming for 800w minimum?

I'd appreciate it if you could give me a few pointers or recommendations?

Thanks,
Tony.

Thanks for the reply.

To be honest really needs to be as cheap as poss but will accumulate parts over time if it gets a bit expensive.
No idea on what games for now. Enjoy first person shooters though and would like a decent enough system to play latest titles with just a high end graphics card.

For now I need recommendations on case mobo and psu. Would like enough space for SLI capability in future so obviously mobo needs to support this too. PSU enough power to not need upgrading either.

Sorry for any errors I'm posting from my phone.

Tony

maybe look into the spec of a cheaper prebuilt system then just build yourself.

pc gamer has a gaming rig section which tells you what is good for the money there rig is around £1000 i think http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/08/the-pc-gamer-rig-new-cpus-motherboards-and-more/

as for sli i was in the same camp as you but unless ur playing at high res then one gpu will be fine, you soon start racking up a large electicity bill if you play a lot.

good luck

Thanks for your input again :)

I really want to build a PC. I wanted to do it years ago when playing counterstrike but never got round to it having just left school and in college etc.

Funny you've posted that link - I really like the bitfenix shinobi case, ill have to add that to the list.

So

Coolermaster HAF 912 plus
Gigabyte G2-G2
Zalman Z11
Bitfenix Shinobi

And...

Gigabyte G1-Sniper M3
Asrock z77 extreme4

Is what im undecided on. Any ideas?

asrock is cheaper, it can take higher memory if thats your thing, plus it says that the pci slots for the gpu are x 16, id check if it does duel x8 or if they are x16 which would be a bonus.

id proberbly go with bitfenix but its down to you on that id go for a big case as its easy to work in.

have you put down for an OS?

Yeah have read rave reviews on the extreme4. Will stick with that I think.
No haven't thought about OS but will get windows7 so another 70quid to add then.
Like the bitfenix but think it won't keep things cool enough for when I OC in future

I would strongly suggest getting a 240/256GB SSD instead if your budget allows. This is because while 128GB are ok ish size wise, once you started installing games on it you will soon find your wishing that you had more space. Lots of people is/has been in this position, myself included.

Ive had the extreme 4 mobo for 8 months and cant fault it,havnt oc'd it tho. Run mine with 8GB 1600mhz kingston hyperX, i wish i got a bigger ssd tho as marine-rx179 says, gonna save up and get a 256GB asnd upgrade my graphics card even tho my 6870 plays everything ive thrown at it...using my old 550w psu which will need upping if i get bigger card...
