I have just joined Overclockers Forum, as I am about to do my very first PC build and I was hoping some of you experienced builders out there could just make sure I am not about to make any expensive mistakes!
I am looking to build a Gaming PC that has an element of future proofing in it. While I have not done any overclocking before, I am keen to do some basic overclocking as well.
The build that I have in mind is as follows:
Intel Core i5 – 3570K (£177)
Asus P8z77-v Deluxe (£182)
Corsair Low Profile Vengeance 16GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 (£71)
Inwin Dragon Rider Case (£97)
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W PSU (£84)
Noctura NH-C14 low profile CPU Cooler (£67)
Samsung 830 256GB SSD (£171)
LG BH10LS38.AUAR 10x Internal BD-RW (£67))
Windows 7 Home 64 bit OEM (£73)
Total £990
I also intend to reuse my Samsung 22” monitor and my Asus GTX550 TI DirectCu TOP graphics card. I realise that this GPU might cause a gaming bottleneck until I upgrade, but I only bought it 2 months ago !
So I guess my questions are:
1) Is there anything here that stands out as a compatibility issue or that just plain doesn’t make sense?
2) Should I go with OEM Windows 7 or spend an extra £30 on a retail version
3) Will the Asus BIOS aid a novice in setting this up for the first time
