Greetings everyone! I have recently stumbled upon your site and I must say I am very impressed with the wealth of resources and knowledge available here, for which I myself would now like to take advantage, if you would be so kind. :)

I already have a nice monitor, mouse, keyboard & storage drive so I'm after the other components for the tower, this is what I have so far:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £179.99
1 x MSI HD 7850 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards w/ Nexuiz & Sleeping Dogs PC Games £119.99
1 x Intel 330 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £83.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £83.99
1 x PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply - White £59.99
1 x Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case with Fan Controller - Black £54.98
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £23.99
1 x LiteOn IHAS124-04 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £15.98
Total : £637.90 (includes shipping : £12.50).

I chose the case because it comes with the fans, temperature display & fan controller and what seems to be plenty of space for good airflow.

I am aiming to keep this build around the £600 mark, What are your thoughts? anything you would change for optimum performance or 'more bang for your buck'? many thanks in advance :D

Edit: I should also mention I won't be needing an operating system within the price.

Hi and welcome to the forum mate:) firstly what will you be using the system for mainly?

Don't forget you needs CPU cooler with that you don't want to fry your chip lol :) ( I got a thing against stock heatsinks lol :) but that's your opinion ) but if your not overclocking just stick to the stock cooler.

The akasa venom heatsink is actually really good bang for buck. My brother has it on his 3570k and his really happy with it.

As for the case mate I would chose the antic 300. A very popular case with many reviews on the ocuk site and is quite cheap at the moment so it may be ideal for you as you want to stick around the 600 bracket.

2gb 7850 instead of 1gb?? if your gonna spend you might aswell put the bit extra for double the memory?

Get the retail version of the CPU for an extra £5 you get 3 year warranty instead of 1 year on the OEM.

I didn't notice that, thanks

I wasn't planning on Overclocking the CPU anytime soon which is why I thought the stock cooler would be appropriate, with that in mind, some of the reviews mention that the Antec 300 case has no filter on the ceiling fan (not a massive issue) but that would mean a lot of dust build up on the CPU which is why I thought the Zalman would be more appropriate with a stock cooler? correct me if I'm wrong.

Samsung 830 SSD?

they seem to have better read speeds but the write speeds are a lot slower, is there any particular reason this would be a better choice? thanks in advance.

The monitor I'm using isn't an IPS screen & it's only 24" so I figured I wouldn't need the extra video RAM as I have no plans to upgrade it in the near future, my desk space doesn't allow it :( lol

again, thanks for the input
