First Gaming PC. How would this stand up?

Hey,

So I think I'm finally going to follow through and buy a gaming PC. I suppose I'd be a casual gamer but when I game I want decent quality. I'm looking at titles such as Battlefield 4, ARMA 2/3, DayZ.

Ideally I'd want to be able to play them and new games in med-high settings. I don't want to have to upgrade parts regularly though and don't want a massive tower.

Would a setup like this serve me well in these aspects?

Thanks in advance,

Is that your budget? Could you build yourself?

I would recommend a 280x, but you should be fine with the 270.

There about that, I'd like to be under £1000 with some other other peripherals. Would I likely save much building it myself? I've never really done much more than change a hard drive and RAM :)

Would you be overclocking your CPU?

Here's a spec with a locked chip (so no overclocking) and a 290, with £120 left for peripherals:

[Updated]

YOUR BASKET
1 x Powercolor Radeon R9 290 PCS+ OC 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99
1 x Intel Core i5-4460 3.20GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £134.99
1 x Kingston HyperX 3K SSD 240GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (SH103S3/240G) £97.94
1 x Aero Cool Dead Silence Gaming White Mini Tower Windowed £72.95
1 x Gigabyte H97M-HD3 Intel H97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £67.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £55.99
1 x Avexir Core White Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit (AVD3U16000904G-2CIW) - White Light £49.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) HDD £43.99
1 x Samsung SE-S208DB/TSWS External Slimline 8x DVD-RW (TV Connect) - White £21.98
Total : £880.82 (includes shipping : £12.50).

If you do stick with the pre-built option I'd recommend dropping the SSD down to a 120gb model and upgrading the GPU to a 280X. And get an external optical drive. An internal one would mess up the nice white front panel.
