Hi guys iv signed up as Im wanting to get into PC gaming and want some guidance. If this is in the wrong place i apologise!

Had a look round OC and the latest haswell extreme pc's seem to fit the bill that i want but Im wondering which more experienced people in the business would choose any why?

Theres the choice of the Ultima wrath

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-402-OE&groupid=43&catid=2474&subcat=2481

The Envy 2

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-371-OE

annnd the scimitar

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-368-OE

I dont really know if i NEED a 6gb gfx card like the 7990 in the wrath but id like something that will run things nicely on ultra settings if i chose to. The envy is a lil cheaper which means i could probably tweak the spec and get two 780's put in there if i upgraded the psu (id imagine) to rival the 7990's power of the wrath? if that was the case which would you go for and why? should i just go balls out and max my budget on the Scimitar with porno watercooling?

cheers

Hello & Welcome to the Forums!

What is your budget & can you build yourself?

With that kind of money, I would be looking to build your own rig. You get better value for money and a great project. If you are not comfortable building, you could always get a spec request from us and ask OcUK how much it would cost to build their end.

I dont really have a set budget but id be willing to stretch to the price of the scimitar system if needs be. If i said 3k for that, it would take me a couple months to budget for a nice 30 inch monitor to play stuff on :D If you think i can do it for cheaper should i be pricing up the parts then? Im a server engineer by trade, dont think building would be a problem but getting it all tidy might be haha! I thought buying one already built would set me up with a good sort of future proof base (as far as future proof pc's go, im aware as soon as they are built they are kinda outta date)

any thoughts/input would be appreciated...l

I think you should self build ..and cable management is one of those things i think lots of people are never totally satisfied with...i did mine again today :)

Build, build, build. You'll get a stonking gaming PC for half the price of the Scimitar. If you're worried about cable management, get a case like this where you can hide most of them around the back: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-143-CS

Besides, OcUK's resident nerd pornographers (see below) will spec you some braided ables that will match the rest of the rig.

I like doomedspeed's spec, I will be having ago when I get home :) ...red and black, orange and black, blue and black, white and black or something else op?

Nice spec from Doomspeed, but 2x780's is a overkill I think. SLI brings it's own set of potential problems too and I'd personally rather negate them by sticking to a single card. One 780 can still do multi monitor with ease. Spend what you save from the extra 780 on a larger SSD. :)

Personally, if i was getting that spec, id only go with one 780 too.. I just wanted to show he could get 2 under the budget he had (plus a super-widescreen display. :)

I think 250Gb is big enough for a SSD really, dont you?

It would be big enough for me personally too. However, he gave us a budget to use, so maybe having a 512GB SSD would be a good choice, or even 2x256GB SSD's raided. All my games are on a HDD, but it would be nice having my favourites on an SSD. ;)

Went a bit spec happy (sorry ether) :D
