Ok I am hopefully buying a new system this weekend, Already picked an overclocked AMD bundle, need to make a final decision on graphics.

In the past I went with ATI (that was mainly because they put little things like S-video on the back that I would make use of). But I want to try out this new CUDA function that nvidia boast.

Gaming will be fairly light - SC2, some FPS but im not bothered about max graphics, just fair with a smooth frame rate. It will be mainly for work with graphics / 3d / video software.

There are loads around the £120 - £160 range, too much choice for me, ive got them all open and im looking at the specs and they are all very similar. So very similar, even the reduced ones.

So I put it to the nvidia fan boys out there, what would you get?

depends on what resolution you game at
anything below 1920x1080 = get a GTX 460 768MB
1920x1080 or higher = get a £150 GTX 460 1024MB or the deal above (470 for £175)

Thanks, I am centering around the GTX 460. Dont want to stretch cash too far. So more memory = more resolution? Core clock, processing cores, other things very accross the board. Anything important I should look at? Also is brand important or is that just the colour that the card is painted?

I dont see where power usage is noted on the specs so I am unsure about PSU. I have heard that quality is important over going for the biggest wattage. As im going mid-range on components I was guessing I would need no more than 500W but that is really a guess.

you will be fine @ 500w as long as the psu ain't a poor brand ;)

dont buy palit or gainward 460's (fans whine above 60% fan speed apparently)

msi / gigabyte are the best brands (run cooler & quieter = more overclock)
