First headset-Do I need a card?

Getting my first headset and mic inline for BF BC2 and I am totally new to pc sound.
I am on a tight buget and have pretty much decided on Goldring D50's and a desktop or clip on mic. What I would like to know do I need a sound card?

So far I have been using a set of Creative Inspire T10's plugged straight into my P5Q Deluxe.
Would I be ok doing the same with the headphones?
What would a sound card like the Creative X-Fi Xtreme add and would I get by without for the time being.

BF BC2 will not implment EAX or simular.

Sound will depend on cpu
