Right guys am biting the bullet and just gunna start ma first home build, been toying with the idea for some time now and thought bout getting a pre built machine but fancy just giving it a bash n going solo haha basically wanting the best spec a can for ma budget of £600 for mainly playing games on with a little web surfing... A dont need a mouse/kb/monitor plus av got a wireless USB network stick so sorted for network connectivity. So the £600 is just for components and the case, looking for a case which is easy to work in since its ma first build, also al be using a copy of windows 7 64bit and using a 24" monitor to game at 1080p... Gunna order the parts when am off tomorrow so show me whats best combo for ma pennies lads :)

if budget could go up a bit, could add better board like the Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H Intel Z77 etc, and add some better cooling for overclocking if you need it but can be added later anyway

will alter spec and try and get to budget, but will be tight

making it any lower only by using B grade stuff, something i don't like to do, could save a few pound by getting a cheaper case, suing your old dvd drive etc, a slightly cheaper board and less ram to be under budget, or go amd?

your choice tbh

amd option, same parts as first post almost, speed won't be as quick as i5 for some thing, but faster for others so it's about choice and budget

Thanks for the help and various options mate... Am leaning towards the second build, liking the case and more ram option, av got a 500gb WD hard drive from an older system but its not been formatted and still has vista installed on it but if a was to use this in the build as well as the 1TB would a have any issues when a build it all together and try installing windows 7? A dont have to install the WD one just its lying around so thought may as well... Am not looking to overclock anything at the moment but like you say a could upgrade that system you spec'd in the future, anything else a should consider? Also whats the benefit of having a ssd over a normal hard drive or having both? Thanks mate
