What resolution are you going to be gaming at? The 8800GTX is not an overly silly choice given the budget but it depends on your gaming resolution...

Sorry InQ (and fire wizard!), for whatever reason i completely missed your posts! thanks for the advice on the GTX i'm really, really tempted. As for gaming resolution, i'm thinking about getting a 24" screen at some point, i don't know if that's relevent? :confused: Ideally i'd like to play games at max res though.

And yeah, firewizard, i'd compiled something similar to that myself. That's more or less the budget i'm aiming for (although up to a grand), so thanks for moving it into this thread and reassuring me about vista, it's nice to know i haven't gone off on one.
 
well i ordered all the components on wednesday with the next day delivery. they didn't turn up yesterday and the city link website said they were still in transit to the delivery branch in bristol (19:40). i rang city link earlier today and they told me to give overclockers a call which i did and apparently my package has been completely lost after despatch! ******* ******! I suppose i should be grateful that a nice scottish man said that he would reship everything again to arrive tomorrow. hope someone enjoys their £1,200 worth of gaming rig!
