I've looked at a fair few and have pretty much decided on LG Direct Drive.

There's 2 Adults and 1 child (probably more in future).

JohnLewis:

LG F6V910BTSA or F4V709STSE

Is it worth spending the extra £80 for 200rpm & 1.5KG load ?

Cheers!

Don't buy cheap is what I'll say. I regretted buying a Hotpoint one and after a few years I had to rip it to pieces to fix (successfully) but never again am I buying cheap!

Not got any experience with LG but they do make reasonable stuff.

We went for an 8kg one. If you're looking at another kid I'd definitely consider upgrading. We have 2kids and the amount of washing we do is phenomenal.

Do you need a washer/dryer or just a washer? Get one with as large a capacity as you can - I see JL go up to 11 kg - 10 kg for washer / dryers - and that's a decent weight. My John Lewis w/d is a rebadged AEG device and has served me well.

Something you might investigate is whether or not the device uses concrete blocks. Back in 2017 they found a way to use water instead of concrete as the counterweight. This makes the device much easier to transport.

Just a washer

I would say so because being able to do more washing at once means it's less of a faff, providing of course you have a way to dry it all too.

I had an LG Direct Drive washing machine and it was a great machine, quiet and played a nice tune when it finished! After about 8 years it died though, and not worth fixing. Now have a cheaper Bosch and it's OK but not quite as good as the LG.

Argos not too bad 400 quid

WW90TA046AE/EU

3 years on top of the standard 2 year warranty

That does look like a good deal, although saying that my mum had a Samsung Eco Bubble went kaput after a year.

Thanks for the replies guys think I will go for the bigger one it does come with 5 Yr warranty if you register it too!

Using a Siemans iQ500 here, purchased from JLP with a 5 year warranty for peace of mind, had it now for 3 years and with general maintenance have not had any issues.

I'm all about value and buying once. I went LG on the washer /heat pump dryer. Have a look at the lg range and Bosch series 4.

Use the main suppliers for the baseline price but also check Google, got an absolute steal on the heat pump dryer , £300 off everywhere the big boys.

Although I’d avoid anything cheap and nasty I’ve always found Beko products to be surprisingly good. Either way, in this era I’d go for the most efficient unit that comes with a decent quick wash option.

I may well be on the hunt for a new washing machine tomorrow, depending on whether the sellers have taken theirs with them.

quick wash efficient NO

Recently in the same situation myself, needed a new washing machine for 2 adults, we went with a Hisense 10kg machine, direct drive, loads of options very quiet machine.
Went with the larger drum size as we both work full time so tend to do a big wash on the weekend.

Bosch washing machine good quality mine after 9 years still working as a dream.

Bosch seem to be very good, ours is 14 years old and broke down for the first time a month or so ago, the Bosch bloke was here within a couple of days and brought the parts to fix it.

Reasonable repair and service charges too.

Samsung have 5 year warranty. Generally I'd suggest getting one with a long warranty.

Replaced an AEG that died after 3 years costing £800 (washer dryer), ridiculous as it was declared unrepairable due to internal rusting meaning it couldn't be taken apart to replace the bearings.
