Edit: After skimming the reviews:
I think in this case, it's more down to the developer and poor coding, as the 360 version has the same framerate problems as the PS3 version.

Don't forget that I have never said that the PS3 won't have games with framerate issues or 30fps. It's all down to the developers. If you release a badly/lazily coded game then it isn't the console's fault.

I know, though I guess that's more aimed at oweneades. After actually reading the review properly, though both have crappy framerate problems, the PS3 has it a lot worse. It's either showing that the TH8 devs are either very lazy, or that the PS3 is a bit of a nuisance to code cross platform games for, or a bit of both when trying to meet a set deadline.

I hope somehow the quality standards of Sony and MS get a little better, as I'd rather a game be delayed a few more months and actually have it run properly than have shoddy framerates all over the shop. I know a lot of people wouldn't agree, but inconsistent framerates is something I really hate.

Yep it was aimed at him :) I thought I'd quote your post rather than just repeat what you had said in my own words :p

Yeah time will tell about that. The PS2 was supposed to be hard to code for too wasn't it? :)

Absolutely.

The framerate problems sound like the developers problem. They clearly haven't had enough time with the hardware.

Look at the 360 and some of the games released with framerate issues. Then you have something like Gears of War, which Epic have worked long and hard over. From what I read, the framerate is smooth apart from a few cut scenes.

Yes I know, :) Just joking with you DD.

And you have hit the nail on the head about the developers and coding etc.

Smooth but low apparently... ie. 30. On their forums Epic said that if the framerate was high, they would deliberately increase the graphics detail until the framerate fell to (no lower than) 30.

Do we know if this PS3 game is 60fps out of interest? IGN didn't say.

Yeah, dont know if they just couldn't grasp it or they are just resting on their laurel's thinking it will sell anyway.

The other thing is they dropped the online from the PS3, so it proves either they didn't get dev kits early enough (which tbh i doubt) or they just couldn't get to grips with it.

Either way after THPS3 it was all downhill from there. :D

Can't seem to find out what frame rate Genji 2 runs at, but it's running in 720p.

I can't see anything about it on google either :) The game sounds crap regardless, but it would be interesting to know nonetheless.

Both preferably. Failing that, a smooth steady 30fps which never tears or dips.

So "a smooth steady 30fps which never tears or dips" is acceptable then? You slated PGR 3 for this, but as soon as the PS3 comes along its ok? :p

(this is slightly tongue in cheek BTW)

I wondered if someone would say something like this :) Let me clarify. I want a solid 60fps. If it has to be 30fps then at least it should never ever drop below 30fps or tear. But I still find it poor in this day and age.
