hi guys, built a few amd rigs but this is my first intel.

First the specs

Antec 1200

intel i7 930

6gb corsair xms3 ddr3 @1600 (standard latencys)

1tb samsung spinpoint f3

edimax wifi card

creative xfi soundblaster (oem)

corsair 750 watt psu (the top class one cant remember if its hx or something like that)

Asus p6t deluxe oc palm edition (thanks for the GREAT PRICE OCUK :) )

right heres where my troubleshooting began;

at first my hard drive wasnt recognised at all. swapping the sata cable from the orange one (silly mistake on my part lol) to a red solved this

however i still get a message that comes up on p.o.s.t that says ''no virtual drive detected'' and ''no physical drive detected'' it then says hit ctrl m for bios or space to continue. hitting space just proceeds as normal to windows and everything is fine. I have gone into the bios several times and the hard drive is recognised but in the second sata slot instead of the first

i had a message to do a bios upgrade which i had never done before but the asus update utility mad it ver easy

the last part of my troubleshoot involves the sound card. whilst im getting audio from the rear ports i have an audio lead firmly pluged into the card that leads to the headphone port at the top of the antec 1200 but i dont get any audio from here. none of the utlities work which leads me to believe the drivers are not correctly installed either. i have tried the automatic update and new drivers where found but the issue has still not been resolved. I will try to download new drivers manually from the creative website later on today.

my main issue is the break in the p.o.s.t where it tell me about not having any drives installed and to hit space. has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks in advance

still the same problem
tried plugging the HDD into all available sata ports with the same prob. Another thing is that when i power off the keyboard lights and mouse lights stay lit up. would i be right in thinking this is a feature of the psu i hear some psu's have a 'cool down period'

not sure to be honest, first time ive used this advanced a mobo ill have a look, im guessing im not supposed to be set to raid as i dont have a raid array. also im presuming ill find this out in the storage section?

all help is greatly appreciated guys, any other thoughts? i cant have a faulty hdd or shorly it just wouldn't work and everything else is fine after that stupid message

in case it helps the error message comes up with the marvell controllers. the first time it comes up in p.o.s.t it states no virtual drive and no physical drive relating to one controller then the second it says error no physical drive relating to another controller but as previously mentioned if you hit the spacebar it continues as normal and i just found out that it will continue as normal if you just leave it for about 5 seconds just continues to boot happily.

Should i be worried about this or do you think its something i should just live with?

Ignore it, or alternativly go into bios, and turn of the marvel controller.

I have this on my mobo, due to my sata3 ports, as i don't use them yet, i simply just turned off the marvel controller.

So basicly make sure that your drives are plugged into the intel ones, they will be the biggest amount of sockets (colour wise), turn off the marvel one in bios or just ignore what it says at boot, turning off will get rid of the message.

Also about ur boot order, put the HDD to 1st now windows is on it.

I have this same motherboard, and the same message comes up, but it doesnt stop windows loading. I just presumed it was coming up because im not using a raid setup.

the second it says error no physical drive relating to another controller but as previously mentioned if you hit the spacebar it continues as normal and i just found out that it will continue as normal if you just leave it for about 5 seconds just continues to boot happily.

Should i be worried about this or do you think its something i should just live with?

I just stopped that second error coming up by disabling marvel storage controller in the bios.

edit: I never had to press spacebar to continue before or after I corrected the error.
