Hey guys i just needed some advice, i have sent off some emails and had some replys about a paid years work in IT before i go off to university (gap year) which would be full time. RM computers are keen to take me on for a year but also my cousin who owns his own shop doing what i do best (building pcs and it support) wants to take me on too. :)

I have the problem that im unsure to what pay i should be expecting.

Im 18, just about to get back A levels worth about 240-260 ucas points and this is my first job in IT.

Would £9500 a year + holiday and benifits such as company van and lifts if needed be good for 9am - 5.30pm full time

I also have the moral dilema that im working for family so quitting the job or complaining wouldnt be easy as its complicated. however i know i can do the job easy and therefore its much better than catering part time (which IS awefull!)

Cheers guys, what are your views

im not related to him but through my cousin is married to him so its not blood related and therefore wouldnt be put down as family, yet i would be working for the shop as a technician and its a full time position, i currently earn like maximun of £3000 a year on 3 days a week so obviously thats why i have no idea of what pay to expect as i havnt got a job doing what i do best, only part time work

Rm are still getting back to me, this is why im considering this job with the shop as its been offered with details etc

so your saying not to expect more than £10,000 anyways, i do understand that job relevance is key, but to add to the problem, im trying to get into marketing and i have been told its impossible to get a job in marketing before uni, its even competitive after university so at the moment i could just use my skills to work in an environment i know (my cousins) or attempt to get a different position in the IT industry

RM computers, the largest(?) educational distributor and manufacturer of pcs to schools and other markets. :) i think..

My other option was Sophos who are very local to me, they might be worth a shot too :p

Yeh my dad managed to get a very good job there breifly as a sales executive and its all very nice there, im gonna fire off my CV and covering letter.

I am very lucky as i know the marketing manager at RM computers and he managed to spice up my CV and covering letter with help from their HR department, which is why i say im in a good position with them as my CV has been tailored by their very own HR recruitment, therefore applying with my CV should give good results as it should now fit all their needs! :p
